Black Label Society 'Mafia'

Black Label Society's Mafia is a great album. I think it's a must have for any BLS fan. As is the video for "Fire it Up". The song's great but the video is also very well done. I mean, who doesn't love seeing the news delivered by two skeletons? The video is mixed with dark humor and the truth about how the world is turning into hell on Earth.

The album has great power tracks to a wonderful ballad dedicated to Dimebag Darrell to a fuckin' Lynyrd Skynyrd cover! Though, I must say that one of my favorites is "Electric Hellfire". Great song and the ending is hilarious....in my opinion that is. This is one of the few albums that I can just sit back, hit play and jam out to the whole damn thing. While having Zakk Wylde's signature guitar sound I think a few of the songs could've been better. For example the intro on "Fire it Up" gets old after you listen to it a few times. I think they could've easily found something better. But as I said, the album has mostly strong and very strong tracks.

I highly recommend that everyone get a copy of Mafia, I truely think you'll love it.

Just a quick update

As some of you may or may not know, I'm currently working on remixing different songs. As well, I'm working on some original stuff. I've only been at it a couple of months, but I'm currenlty working on a remix for Negative Earth's version of "Gloomy Sunday". I'm happy to be working on it, music is something that I've loved all my life, so is entertaining others in some form. Hopefully when it's done, depending on the final word from NE, you'll enjoy it as well. I do know, it will be added to the music player featured here. Until it's up, if you'd like you can go to my SoundCloud page and give a listen to my first three remixes....or not, they are on the player after all. lol

I'm always looking for helpful advice. It's a little difficult for me as I can't play any instruments. If you know any musicians that would like to help me out with some original instrument compositions/stems I'd love to hear from you. And I'm going to do something that I've never asked of any of my readers, please let your friends/family know about this blog so that we can hopefully increase the number of musicians that see this and hopefully would like to collaborate with me and help me get better.

Just remember I don't do this for money, this is for just pure enjoyment and a hope to entertain others.

Chris Brown and Team Breezy drama

I have some things to say that are music related by not reviews. If you're a Chris Brown fan, you're a fuckin' idiot. Especially if you're a female Chris Brown fan. Then you're really a brain dead idiot. I mean, how could any woman be a fan of a man who beats the shit out of a woman and doesn't feel bad about it at ALL!??! I mean seriously, the sumbitch beat the holy hell out of Rihanna and doesn't say boo about being sorry. That's a big fuckin' pile of douchebaggery.

To make things worse, "Team Breezy" (what a fuckin' stupid ass name) threatens to KILL a woman who calls Brown out on being the biggest piece of shit in 'Merica. Brown doesn't say "Hey, stop she's allowed to have her own opinion." No, he's like "Fuck you bitch, I'll beat a woman and get away with it if I want." He's a fuckin' bastard that needs to be taught a lesson.

I'll start by saying this, Chris Brown, you're the only person that's made me DIE to call you a n***er. But I'm not. Not because as a white male, that would make me look racist. But because I'm not gonna stoop to your immature level. I think you need to get the shit kicked outta you a good time or two and then learn how an ADULT should really act.

Blog Expanion/New Music for You

Well, lately I've been going through my iTunes library and listening to music that I hadn't listened to yet, or in a while so I could rate the songs properly. The reason I tell you this is because in doing so I've found some really good music that I'd like to share. The catch is it's not rock or metal. So I've been thinking about expanding this blog from just rock and metal to include electronic, dubstep, drum 'n bass, big beat, techno and the like. I've been a fan of electronic music for years. I remember growing up and going to the skating rink hearing C+C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweet", Technotronic (I love you Ya Kid K!!!!), Culture Beat and all that good stuff. Man the early '90s was a good time for music.

So in the first post about electronic music, I'll share with you the albums Twin Cities Electropunk. These feature artists from Minnesota. They feature the likes of Avenpitch, Apox and more. I only listed the two artists that were the ones I saw on my playlist. So what if I'm a little lazy right now, I've been up for almost (at least it seems like) 20 hours. These releases are available for free from Avenpitch's website which will be linked down below.

If you're a metal fan and wouldn't hate to at least try and expand your musical taste pallette, give these (so far) six compilations a listen. Hey, they're free, what's the hurt?

On a side note, I'm currently working with Sony ACID and working on my own electronic music. So far, it's not bad, (in my opinion). I don't expect (or really want) to make a living doin' this. I'm just doin' it for fun and maybe someone besides me will enjoy what I make. But I'm also working on remixes for Avenpitch's "Manscaping" and some Negative Earth tracks. Wish me luck and who knows, when they're done I might just post them on here. I guess only time will tell.

I can't resist

Okay, so I couldn't resist posting this song. The song is "Manscaping" by Avenpitch. It's the title track off there new EP. The song is available for free download at the bands website. Below is a quick video I made for it because it wasn't on YouTube, so I just had to share it with everyone. This song has me laughing everytime I hear it. It's honestly one of my new favorites. Two artists, one post.

This post for Without End Music is special. This post is not totally rock related and will feature two artists. The first being a rapper that I happen to like. He's got a unique style. His rap may be "vulgar" and talk about sex, but it also sends a happy and positve message, the man's name, Muck Sticky. If you haven't listened to him before, I highly suggest you do so. One of his newest songs is called "Tuckahaw" and is up on his SoundCloud page which will be linked below. The song of his that happens to be mine and my best friends favorites is called "Snuffulupagus". He's from Tennessee and I think everyone should listen to him, at least once. His music is not only good, but will a lot of times give you a good laugh. He's got a great sense of humor also. Here just so happens to be one of my favorite songs of his: And here's the biggy, that's fan video but he approved it: The next musician you need to know about is Negative Earth, an "electronic gravity rock" act. I've got to hand to him, he happened to cover an obscure song from the 1930s that has been done by the likes of Billie Holliday and other legends. I have to say, I prefer his version of "Gloomy Sunday". I can't say too much about him right now because I've just gotten into him, but still give it a listen and who knows what you'll think. I'm back

First I would like to apologize for the long delay. I've found it rather hard to find a band to review lately because I've been listening to other things lately. Mainly electronic or dubstep. You can thank my best friends @chrism2041 for that one. However, since I've decided that I NEED to post again, I've gone back in time to one of my favorite albums of all-time. Don't get me wrong, I won't do song-by-song, I mean, if you really want to know, just buy the damn album on iTunes or Amazon. This entries album will be 2000's Fozzy by none other than the Chris Jericho fronted metal outfit Fozzy. Now, let me start off by saying this, stupid false back story aside, this album is just bad ass. Now please allow me to deviate for a few moments. Here at Without End Music when I refer to “heavy metal” I don't mean that growling bullshit stuff. I'm talking about '80s metal. If I'm talking about the former I call it “metal”. I've always associated “heavy metal” with the '80s scene, so I continue to do so to this day. Okay, back on track. While the album features only two original tracks (a trend continued on the next album, but done away with on All That Remains) it does contain two original songs “End of Days” and “Feel the Burn”. When I first bought the album, back when it was FIRST out in Wal-Mart, back when people went to actual stores to get music, I didn't expect to love the album, I was doing it as a die-hard wrestling fan. Personally, I expected it to be similar to The Offspring's Americana album. You know, humor in the songs, I mean with a back story of being stranded in Japan and being mega stars that got ripped off by American bands, what else would you expect? However, I was HIGHLY impressed with the album then and 12 years later, I still call it one of my favorites. Why else would I have the whole damn thing on my iTunes playlist? Black Stone Cherry

Well, I must say, from the first two tracks I've heard "White Trash Millionaire" and "Blame It On the Boom Boom" it sound's pretty damn sweet. I'm lookin' forward to hearin' the full album. I will tell you this, "White Trash Millionaire" has a great rockin' beat, great lyrics, perfect job all around by BSC and a great music video. As I mentioned I have also heard "Blame It On the Boom Boom" which is a pretty damn good song in its own right. Still give the edge to "...Millionaire". Hope you watch the video and enjoy. Every Dying Day

Ok, so this band, Every Dying Day, I first heard of after they started following me on Twitter, so I had to give them a listen. I'll tell you up front, based on five songs for free download on their profile on ReverbNation.com, not bad. They're a small band from the hot and sunny Phoenix, Arizona.

The pros, a good, solid, hard sound. Good vocals, good musicians, good songs. The cons, the overall sound has that of a typical small time band, one song in particular. I personally enjoyed all their songs, some more than others. But the song "ENVY" has the sound of a band producing a song for about $100. The song itself isn't bad, but the sound of the vocals just bothers me. I mean, he's a good singer, but it's just the quality of the production on this track, it's not good. I think I could have done better, mind you, I've never produced, mixed or recorded music in my life. If I were the boys, I would go back and re-record the song.

I have to say, I love the beginning of "Pumkin Patch", it's really groovy, I just wish it lasted longer. And on this song, for some reason, the vocals remind me, somewhat, of Marylin Manson, in a good way. However, the song features my biggest gripe in music, the name of the song is not mentioned oNCE in the song itself. I don't get that. Next up is "Morning Breath", who's intro makes me think of a song that should be on a video game soundtrack. The chorus is go a great flow to it, love it. The song has sound bits that remind you of some off of Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe. Next up "My Everything". It's starts out with kind of a poppy feel, not really my thing, but it changes up a bit. I'll admit the chorus is harder than the start of the song would allude too, this is a plus. I would have to say, of the five, this is one of their better songs. And lastly "Note to Self", starts with a hard indie rock feel. Put it this way, if you were to sing along to this song, you would need to write a note to yourself to have cough drops ready, you'd have a sore throat. The lyrics are kind of shouted throughout the song, not that it's a bad thing, it's the song's character. This is probably a middle-of-the road song, at best.

Type O Negative

Sorry I have the attention span of a stoner. And since it's 2am, I'll keep it short.

Well, since this is an overview of a band as a whole, I'll try not to focus on one album in particular. Type O Negative, no not the blood type, the goth band from New York. If you haven't heard of them, all I can say is "What's wrong with you?!" They are legendary. Basically their entire being can be help up in the song "Black No. 1". The album version is 11 minutes long with live performances running around 4-5. Speaking of live performance, I'm not really a fan of them, by anyone. However, I will tell you this, I would pay good money to see Type O Negative play live anywhere in the world. They're one of, if not the best, live bands I've ever seen. Did I mention that they also have a good sense of humor? No? Well, just have a listen to "My Girlfriend's Girlfriend", yeah, that kinda girlfriend, also have a watch of their video for "I Don't Wanna Be Me". I swear, I have never laughed so hard at a music video. I mean, who doesn't love goth metal and cross dressers who wanna be Britney Spears or Emeniem? And is it just me or does Peter Steele have friggin' fangs???

Dommin: Love is Gone

Ok, this is my first track-by-track album review. However, unlike some, I'm not gonna go and examine every little thing. I'm just gonna give you a run down of each track to give you an idea of what they are and help you judge if you would like the album as a whole.

The lucky victim, er winner is Dommin and their album Love is Gone on Roadrunner Records due out February 2, 2010.

Track listing
The album kicks off with, probably the best track on the list, "My Heart, Your Hands". When you first hear the song, you may, like I did, think of a snow covered Catholic church. And if you're also like me, when you hear the whole song and close your eyes, you can picture it being performed inside the church as well. It's got a great goth feel that reminds you of medieval cathedrals. It's just great. We then switch to more of an upbeat tempo with the track "New". The song has a good beat and flow. Next, we encounter the first of the albums three interludes, "Evenfall Hollow" has to be one of, if not the least productive track on this album. There was really no point to include it. Up now is the song "Tonight". Well, not a real surprise here, it's about a guy wanting to go home with a woman. Can we go just one album in the world without this? It has kind of a pop rock feel to it. It's not bad, but it's not the best song on here. For the next song, the best I could tell the band is, "Next time, less is more". For he title track "Love is Gone", Not a bad song, just on this side of mediocre. Now, this song really caught me off guard. "Dark Holiday" starts out with a marching keyboard that's rather reminiscent of the 1940s and then it's into an upbeat rock jam. After that nice "swing rock" track we're approached by a very good guitar intro that leads into a song with a nice vocal flow, called "Without End". Parts of this song might make you think of an angry Christmas song.

The back half of the album begins with an interlude entitled "Within Reach". It's better than the first, but still not really that important to have included on the final cut. The first actual song of the back half is one entitled "Closure" and it happens to be one of the better tracks on this effort. It has a great flow and beat and is well written and performed. Now, time for a change of pace, "Making the Most", rather than following in suit with the tracks prior, it's a nice, slow song that you could see someone in a movie walking in the rain listening too. Now someone of a return to the previous formula for the tracks on the album, "One Feeling" starts out with a great rocking guitar intro, though the song is more peppy than anything. It's one of the bright spots of the album. "Wait, what was that? How many feelings do you have inside you?" "Oh, just the one, ok. Just wanted to make sure." And we're back to the slower, rocking beat. "I Still Lost" was well written and has good form and flow lyrically. I'm not sure if "One Eye Open" should be counted as an interlude or a midget song, either way, shouldn't have made the final cut. It does nothing, doesn't tell a story, nothing. This one, "Honestly" had some excellent harmonizing vocals that made the song. It was well written and the vocals gave it a nice complete sound, however, it just seemed like something, I'm not sure what, was missing. Drum roll please, and now, for the final track of the album. "Remember" was a first on this album, a ballad. And when I say ballad, I don't mean some from the '80s, I mean played on the piano ballad. Not a bad song and a nice surprised from a band that you think will be just straight up goth sans variation.

On an album in which I thought the songs would be mostly slower, deeper and broodier (is that even a word?), I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of styles the songs were clearly influenced by. From '40s style piano chords to pop rock to a ballad. The highlights of Love is Gone would have to be "My Heart, Your Hands", "Dark Holiday", "One Feeling" and "I Still Lost". It's a shame however, that the album was interrupted by the interludes that did nothing to progress the flow of the album. If you want an album you can listen to several times and enjoy, I suggest you go and pick this one up. However, if you're looking for nothing but depressed goth music, you might wanna keep looking.

Ok, I really, really am sorry that I haven't updated in awhile. It's the result of different factors, but ya know what? I'm back and hopefully by this weekend I'll have a review up of the metal band Dommin's album "Love is Gone", courtesy of my (personal) favorite record label, Roadrunner Records. I would like to give a shout out to Jason a.k.a. "Bucket" over at Capital Rock Show, he's finally back, not exactly as he was before, but it's better than nothing.

Ok, now onto a bit about what I've been up too. I'm on multiple medications and one of the side effects of the mixture of Prozac and Lizinopril is vertigo, and it's been hard for me to walk since about late June/early July. It even bothers me to sit up at times. So while I've been tryin' my best to acclimate to the vertigo, I've been playin' a lot of Madden NFL 10 and NCAA Football 10 for the Xbox 360. I've also been wathin' way too many movies and of course listenin' to music. I'd be crazy if I didn't.

Oh and after my review of Dommin's Love is Gone, I'll post a review of a band that in my personal opinion are metal gods, Type O Negative. And as usual, if you discover a band here and enjoy their music, please, tell them where you found them at. And lastly, yes, I plan to get a better lookin' logo, I know it looks cheap, well, it is. lol

Halo In Reverse

Ok, first and foremost, I would like to apologize for the long delay. I've been fightin' my depression again and it's been pretty bad lately. So, this is helpin' me feel better so, thanks for waitin' and readin'. So, onto the music.

Halo in Reverse. Yeah, that's right this dude's name is Halo in Reverse. The first time I saw it, I'm like "How can a halo go in reverse? It's friggin' circle!" Don't let the name fool ya, he's good. He's a white-boy from Philly who's got the Indsustrial chops that liken to Celldweller, Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails and Criss Angel (yes, the illusionist), just to name a few.

The first time I heard of him was when I got a friend request on MySpace. Normally, I don't add bands that request me, however I had a listen to his music had a great sound, not to mention a good name. So yeah, from the first listen I was a fan. He's got songs that range from, good to have as background noise in your headphones while you surf the internet, to songs that you'll find yourself listenin' to while on the net and semi-bangin' your head too, to just plain ol' good songs, to a couple great ones. I highly recommend the 4:41 "Pop Culture Icon". It has to be one of the best songs I've heard in the last few years. You can listen to some of his "tune-age" (that's my Pauley Shore) on his MySpace page, OR what I suggest his official website, on which he has a chunk of more songs on a pop out Flash player, which, for people like me who have computers with REALLY bad RAM, is a good. You can go there listen to his songs (sorry no downloadin') and still raise hell on other sites.

Spirits of the Dead

Ok, I'm back. I'm sorry it's taken' so long. Hopefully that won't happen again. This time out, I bring you, honestly one of the best bands I've ever listened too, and that's just from the six full tracks they have on their MySpace page, they are, Spritis of the Dead, a psychedelic-stoner-"folk"-rock band from Seasside, Norway, with the best 60s, Doors, sound heard since the....well 1960s rock scene. They sent me a friend request on MySpace last night and I jumped over and I've listened to every track they have posted, now on my second time through as I write this.

The production is crisp, clear and clean. The sound is so reminiscent of the 1960s, peace, love, and weed generation that it's hard to belive their from a) Norway, and b) the 21st Century. Not to mention, if you just hit play, and sit back you'll fell like you're in the 60s. When I did, in my mind, I saw clips of people such as Jimi Hendrix, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Jim Morrison, Led Zeppelin, and Woodstock (the originial). SotD is a MUST hear for all Classic Rock and stoner rock fans, as well as stoners. My personal favorite tracks would happen to be: "Spirits of the Dead," "White Lady/Black Rave," and....ah hell, I like'em all (that are on their MySpace player). What's more, "White Lady/Black Rave" has an organ soundin' keyboard in it!

These guys are a MUST hear! I give them 4.5 stars-out-of five. So, until next time, enjoy and keep checkin' back.

Message from Crash

Hey pukes, sorry it's takin' awhile, but here's the deal. I've been kinda blah lately so I haven't felt like doin' anything, then last week, I was gonna go and look for some bands, but my grandma had a heart attack, she's fine, so I was unable to as I had to deal with things around the house. Metallica: Death Magnetic

I bought Metallica's Death Magnetic yesterday at my nearest record store, which just happens to be Wal*Mart. I just got done listenin' too it and all I can say is "HOLY SH!T!!!!" This album is LEVELS upon LEVELS better than St. Anger, and this is comin' from a guy who not only BOUGHT St. Anger the week it came out, but likes every track on the cd. I just mean WOW, this album really goes back old-school, and I like it. The riffs are great, and THANK GOD they didn't have the same drum and guitar sound as on St. Anger I mean it sounded like they were playin' inside of a 55 gallon drum. But on Death Magnetic it's completely different. This is one of the better albums I've heard in a long, long, LONG time. My personal favorite tracks are "Broken, Beat, & Scarred", "The Day That Never Comes", "All Nightmare Long", and "Cyanide."

Now let us break it down some. The vocals, well, it's James Hetfield, what can I say? His voice is one of the greatest music HAS ever or WILL ever hear. And on Death Magnetic his vocals return to the master form that we all know and love from their early releases, and hopefully we won't have to wait another FIVE YEARS to hear more new stuff. The guitar, Kirk Hammet, you are a master. He is by far one of the best guitarists in the world. The sound of his guitar was a brutal mess on St. Anger, but now here is a good example of bein' able to return to what works well and not have any ill effects from an experiment gone wrong. I say he's still in top form on Death Magnetic. Bassist Robert Trujillo has an impressive debut on Death Magnetic with what fans have come to expect from Metallica bassists, great deep rhythmic bass work that is right up there with the best in the business today. Good show old boy. (Had to crack at least one joke.) And now onto the best part, my brother!!! Oh wait, sorry that's Lars Ulrich, sorry he looks like my older brother, it's kinda creepy. By far the best drummer in the world. Move over John Bohnam, Lars Ulrich has dropped you down a peg. Once against Lars brings the best drummin' in the industry to a Metallica release. The few constants in this busy are simple, Elvis is dead, Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitar player to have ever lived, Ozzy Osbourne is still incoherent when he speaks but competely clear when he sings, and Lars Ulrich will always bring the best drummin' in the world to the new Metallica album, and he does on Death Magnetic. And lastly the producer, what else do you expect from Rick Rubin, a man who has produced albums for some of the best acts in metal, along with legends such as Johnny Cash. Another home run for the legendary producer.

So after all that, I just have this to say, GO BUY Death Magnetic NOW!!!!

Mandy Lion

Take Rob Zombie's gutteral vocals, mix in a leather trenchcoat, turbo charged sexuality, a bitchin' motorcycle, long coal black hair, a Bret Michaels leather cowboy hat, and a slight German accent and what you get is one of metals best and most unsung lead singers, Mandy Lion. What can I say about Mandy Lion? Hmm....how about he's one of the best things to come out of Germany since Oktobefest. Not to mention he's a great guy. He LOVES; dogs, he's a dog breeder (see here for a picture of his own dog), martial arts, and metal. When he's not makin' great music, he spends his time tryin' to dispell false rumors about the statistics of dog attacks.

Lion has been in the American music scene since 1986 when he immigrated (legally) from Germany, after havin' a few successful bands there. He arrived here when glam metal and bands like Poison, Whitesnake, Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, and Warrant where toppin' the charts. Once settled in L.A., he began formin' a new band which wouldn't be the oh-so popular glam metal, but what was more himself, one of the first American gothic metal bands, named World War III (WWIII). While with WWIII Lion created a new vocal style, extreme power vocal, which others have mimmicked and made even more popular.

In his 22 years in the American music scene Lion has recorded four albums, three with bands, one solo, and appeared on the George Lynch album Sacred Groove. A look at the list of artists he's performed with reads like a who's who of metal music. Although his career has spanned three decades three stints of WWIII, one of Wicked Alliance, and even one as a solo artist and he's only released four albums, I would say that Lion is an artists that EVERY metal fan MUST listen too, and see perform live, though I never have just watch his video for his cover of the song "Kiss" (link provided below) and you'll know what I'm talkin' about. I give Mandy Lion 4 1/2 leather clad stars out of five.

Marazene

Marazene is a three piece industrial metal band from the small town of Chicago, Illinois. They consist of Nikk Skum on vocals and multiple instruments, DieTrich Thrall on multiple instruments, and Kristov on drums. They are a completely 100% Do It Yourself band. Production, mixing, performing, it's all done by the band. Marazene effortlessly blends new tech, with the heaviest of metal. They are like Ministry with a splash of Disturbed and a sprinkling of Rob Zombie. Shake well and you get one of Chicago's hottest acts. Marazene have released one album, which is 2006's self-released MachiNation. Of the songs of Marazene's that I've heard, I highly recommend "gIVe (Skumfukker's)", and "AnTiThesis". I recommend you swing by their official YouTube channel and have a look at a few of their official videos. Or if you feel like hearin' a few more tunes head right on over to their MySpace page (provided above) and give'em a listen and maybe even a friend request.

I will warn readers, they are NOT for the younger crowd. Take their song "gIVe (Skumfukkers)" for example, lyrics include, "...give me a hole I'll f**k it, give me, give me chance I'll blow it, give me some love I'll choke it, give me a pill I'll pop it, give me a line I'll drop it, give me some smack I'll shoot it, give me a gun I'll do it...", and "Whatever you got I'll put it in me...". So as I said, some of their material is not for the younger crowd. However, I still highly recommend that you go and see Marazene if you ever get the chance. I honestly don't think you'll regret it one bit.

For Marazene, I'll have to give me a four stars out of five. It's not everyone's shot of Jack but I find them refreshin' and I recommend to every metal fan.

Stoker 7

Stoker 7 is a three piece rock band from Glenville, West Virginia. They consist of Dustin Wagoner on vocals and guitar, Joe Park on bass guitar, and Tyson Price on drums. The band has been playing college towns all around West Virginia for the past few years, and draw influences from various straight-forward rock trios of the past. They have a sound that reminds you of classic rock from such bands as The Eagles. I would honestly say that Stoker 7 is one of the few true rock bands out there. They are a rare band live, they actually sound good live rather than some bands who can't live up to the album live. The live video of them performing "Let It All Go" at Trezans, a bar in Glenville, West Virginia.

The band may be small, but the sound is big. I highly recommend this band to any fan of straight out rock. I give Stoker 7 a four out of five.
